The loop isn’t reward. It’s uncertainty.

You check without thinking.
Open apps without a reason.
Not because something is there—
but because something might be.

Not because every lap is different.

A mistake.
A pit stop decision.
A shift in conditions.
You’re not watching for what is.
You’re watching for what might happen next.
You stay because the next moment isn’t fixed.

Not because every episode delivers.
But because you never know what’s coming next.
A character you’re invested in could die.
A storyline could flip.
Power could shift in a moment.
It doesn’t resolve neatly.
It keeps you uncertain.
And that’s why you stay.
Not for answers.
For what might happen next.

Why work feels different
Now look at work.
Everything is defined.
Everything is structured.
Everything is known.
You know what finishing gets you.

There’s no pull in it.
And that’s why attention fades.
Not because people don’t care.
